Intersection of Mental Health and Reproductive Health
Zabrina Ebert, MD; PGY-4 Psychiatry Resident - MCW
Summary of Presentation: Mental health conditions are relatively prevalent among women and uniquely affected by reproductive cycles that are often minimized or overlooked in their medical/psychiatric care. Layered on top of this is the unique intersection of women’s reproductive health in the socio-political realm that can further exacerbate mental health conditions and complicate access to appropriate psychiatric cares. Between these facts, the increasing demands for mental health providers, and decreased access, it is of utmost importance that we recognize the unique challenges found in women’s health, how this intersects with their psychiatric care, and be able to identify and navigate the challenges associated with political interference in this care.
About the Speaker: Zabrina Ebert is a national health core service scholar who completed medical school at the Midwestern University Chicago College of osteopathic medicine.
